Travel Apps for Android - India

A list of handy apps to have on your Android while travelling in India.


  • Google Maps: Almost every android phone comes with Google Maps. Google Maps is an essential app to have so that you always have a map of where you are that also shows your own position using GPS or other location services; the latest version comes with the ability to store maps offline and with separately available but integrated voice navigation feature and also street view.

  • Indian Rail Info App : A very useful app for anyone who travels by train frequently in India, Indian Rail enables you to check your PNR Status, find out the train running status, arrival and departure, make Train Fare and availability enquiry.

  • Makemytrip: The app from the popular website makemytrip.com allows you to book flights, check your bookings, check flight status and even find places to eat.

  • TripAdvisor: Associated with the popular travel related website tripadvisor.com, this app provides you with information about Hotels, Restaurants, Things to do and flights while you are travelling.
  • ngpay : This app is mainly for financial transaction and has options to  book Bus, Air and Train tickets. ngpay lets you buy, check, cancel, email etc your train tickets, check train route etc using IRCTC

Note: Some travel, transport, airline companies have their own apps such as IndiGo that can be useful for checking in etc if you are a regular customer. A mention here for cleartrip.com's super user friendly mobile website. Also, the Indian Railways (IRCTC) has an official mobile website
