Sports Apps for Android - India

A list of must have apps for Sports. Follow your favourite sports right on your phone with these free apps for android smartphones.

  • EPNScorecenter : For all the scores from the world of from a wide range of sports including Football, Cricket, Tennis, Motorsports, Basketball, Rugby and many others. You can create a special section for the teams that you follow, or the leagues and tournaments that you follow, so that you can see the latest scores from those matches quickly and conveniently. This app also news, points tables, articles and even videos for some sports (like tennis) assembled from the different websites that ESPN is associated. There is a widget that comes with the app that updates the scores of the matches featuring your favourite teams right on the homescreen.

  • ESPNCricinfo : Perhaps the most popular cricket website, Cricinfo has an android app with all scores, cricket news and other articles. Must have for cricket lovers.

  • Goal.com : An app from the popular football website with all latest news, scores, points tables, tranfer gossip and other articles. The app refreshes the list of articles once you open it and are connected to the internet so that you can read even when you are offline. THe app also has an Indian edition with special focus on Indian football.

  • CricBuzz : Another cricket related app, CricBuzz comes with a widget that allows you to follow the scores from the home-screen without having to open the app. There is also live audio commentary for many international matches (I should warn you that the quality of the commentary may not be of a very high standard).

  • ATP/WTA Live: For live score from tennis matches from the ATP or the WTA organised Tournaments.

Note that all the Grand Slam tennis tournaments come up with their own apps that include live audio commentary, videos and articles along with the latest scores. For sports commentary on internet radio, have a look at the TuneIn Radio app mentioned in the Music and Audio category.
