Office / Work Apps for Android

An Android phone can be used to to get a lot of actual work done, such as viewing and editing documents, making calculations and sharing files. Here is a list of free Android Apps that will help you with that.
  • Kingsoft Office: The free version of the app comes with a basic alternative to Microsoft Office with a Word Editor, a spread-sheet program with some very basic functions of Excel, a presentation program to view, create and edit presentations. It may not have all the functionality of MS-Office, but is a good free app for your smart-phone.

  • Drive: This is the name that Google Docs comes with now. You can access and edit all the documents you have on Google Docs. To edit, you need to have an internet connection, but you can make some documents available offline to be able to view them when not connected to the internet.

  • Adobe PDF Reader: As the name suggests, this app is for opening and viewing PDF files. This app adds additional functionality, enabling you to draw, make notes or highlight areas of the PDF file.
  • HandyCalc: It is basically a calculator with a many extra functions that would top even a scientific calculator. There are many built in functions, a currency convertor, an equation solving mode, a graph plotter and the ability to save your previous calculations in a notebook. This is easily the best calculator app that I have come across.
