[Part of a guide to buying Android phones] These are the fanciest and the best Android phones available in India. These phones cost a lot and you may want to make sure that they are worth the money. So here are the cream of Android:

4. Samsung Galaxy Note (₨ 32,700 on flipkart.com):
An extra slot for an unusual phone. In fact it is not clear whether this device is a phone, a tablet or a ‘phablet’. In any case, this popular device is worth mentioning in this list as many consider buying it over other smartphones. It is the size that sets it apart; the Note comes with a 5.3 inch HD WXGA (800 x 1,280 pixels) touchscreen display. It has Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a customized version of Samsung’s Touchwiz interface running  on a 1.4GHz dual core processor with a separate GPU. The Note comes with an impressive 2500mAH battery and the usual 3G, GPRS, Edge, WiFi, DLNA support, FM radio, music player and video player. What is unusual about the Note is that it also comes with a stylus called the S-Pen that can be used to draw or take notes. This niche product is a great option for artists, people who draw, people who like to take notes using a stylus and for people who would like one device instead of a phone and a separate tablet.

Other Phones to consider in this category:

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S (₨ 25,999 on letsbuy.com): A slim and stylish phone near the low end of this range, this phone lacks a front camera but matches the above mentioned phones in most aspects.
LG Optimus 3D P920 (₨ 26,999 on letsbuy.com): This phone does not quite match up to the other phones in this section in most aspects (it runs Android 2.2 though upgradable to 2.3), but it comes with a glassless 3D display. If a good 3D display is what you are looking for, then you may want to consider this phone.

Upcoming Phones to consider in this category:

There are quite a few phones that may upstage the phones in this section in the near future. HTC One X and Sony Xperia P have been showcased in the Mobile World Congress in February 2012 and there are widespread rumours about an upcoming Samsung Galaxy S 3. Unfortunately, the companies manufacturing the phones have not yet announced the dates on which these phones will become available in India. There is also the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which has been launched months ago in other markets, but we are still awaiting its release in India. Till then there is enough to choose from on this list.
